Lakers Have a “Must-Win” Mentality As They End the Season
In 2023–24, the Los Angeles Lakers proved to be a challenging squad to understand. The Lakers look fantastic on a given night, as evidenced by their recent rout of the Atlanta Hawks.
On days, otherjust like their defeats by the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, they appear inexperienced. Every game counts for Los Angeles, since they are one game ahead of Golden State in the standings, and they want to maximize their chances of qualifying for the postseason.
Austin Reaves, though, thinks he and Los Angeles are making progress and are learning how to bounce back from setbacks by approaching each game as a must-win. “We missed opportunities when we played Golden State and Sac twice last week,” Reaves remarked following practice on Wednesday. It’s interesting how quickly things can change. I believe that everyone was focused on winning the game the other night, particularly in the Atlanta match. We accomplish it by playing the game correctly, so I believe the intensity is increasing and we’re adopting a “must-win” mentality.
Reaves also talked about the Lakers’ problems with consistency and how they could get better in that area in the final minutes. “It’s difficult; it’s the NBA,” he remarked. “There are numerous excellent teams that perform a wide range of tasks every night. That means that if you perform really well one night, the following team will notice and you will need to adjust.
However, it is precisely the allure of the game; so, you must possess the ability to adapt quickly, analyze situations and games, and prevail in challenging matches even when you are not at your best. You must devise strategies for salvaging victories. Los Angeles has demonstrated that they possess the necessary skill to triumph over formidable opponents, but they must do so consistently before anybody can consider them a postseason threat.
