After making his Super Eagles debut, Benjamin Tanimu expressed his thanks, saying, “My joy knows no bounds.”
Before joining Tanzania’s Ihefu Sports Club, Tanimu began the season with NPFL team Bendel Insurance, where he scored two goals in nineteen appearances.
Super Eagles and Ihefu Sports Club central defender, Benjamin Tanimu, has revealed it was a dream come true for him to play for Nigeria, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 21-year-old centre back has been highly rated since his time at Bendel Insurance, which saw him linked with several European clubs.
Tanimu, a teenage defender, joined Tanzanian league team Ihefu Sports Club after scoring two goals in 19 games for Bendel Insurance during the NPFL 23/24 season. Since then, he has continued to develop.
The player, who was born in Benin, demonstrated his skill yesterday against Ghana by being excellent in the air and with the ball at his feet. Finidi George selected him into the starting back three, where he was paired with Semi Ajayi and Chidozie Awaziem.
Tanimu made a strong play on the right side of the back three, which gave Bright Osayi-Samuel space to go freely up the court. In the 78th minute, Ademola Lookman took his place.
In his first game as Nigeria’s coach, Finidi George’s team won thanks to goals from Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman. Tanimu used his social media profile to share how much wearing the Super Eagles shirt means to him.
Tanimu intends to build on his successful debut as a Nigerian international player and establish himself as a mainstay in the upcoming years.
