Browns acquire York K Cade
Cade York, who agreed to a $940,000, one-year contract, is returning to the Browns, according to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.
In August of last year, the team traded for veteran Dustin Hopkins and then cut York. Hopkins is still a member of the team and will earn a base salary of $2.875 million in 2024, with a $3.54 million cap charge.
Hopkins made 33 of 36 field goals, four of which were game-winning. Both his 31 field goals and his eight kicks of 50 or more were team records.
York was a 2022 fourth-round selection of the Browns.
After being cut, they wanted York to rejoin their practice squad, but York joined with the Titans practice squad instead. On November 3, the Giants signed him off of the Titans’ practice squad.
He went on injured reserve on December 23 after suffering a quadriceps injury during practice.
York made just 24 of 32 field goals and 35 of 37 extra points in his debut.
