For almost his whole career, the former quarterback for the Green Bay Packers has been in the news. He has captured the attention of fans for almost 20 years, whether it was because of his amazing on-field performance or his thought-provoking remarks off the field.
That’s why it wasn’t all that shocking to see the quarterback who would go on to become a hall of fame as the “front runner” for a position that was in high demand.
Former Jeopardy host Mike Richards said in a recent interview that Aaron Rodgers almost got the opportunity to lead the game show after impressing the producers.
Richards, 48, told People on Wednesday that Rodgers, 40, was supposedly the “most prepared” of all the applicants who tried out to succeed the late Alex Trebek. Rodgers was ultimately passed over despite receiving great reviews for his try-out hosting positions. Richards stated that he was concerned about the quarterback’s apparent lack of a plan for juggling hosting the legendary game show with continuing to play in the NFL.
Rather, Richards assumed the hosting role—but only for a single day, as he was sacked following the reemergence of inappropriate remarks he made on a podcast. After acknowledging that he was a huge fan of Jeopardy, Rodgers seemed to truly want to host the game show, according to the host who was sacked.
