According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, sources tell him that combo guard Kobi Simmons is signing a 10-day deal with the Raptors (Twitter link).

Most recently, Simmons was a player with the Raptors 905, Toronto’s G League club. He has led the team in scoring in both Showcase Cup and regular season games, averaging 15.1 PPG, 5.6 APG, and 4.2 RPG.

Arizona’s 6’5′′ guard was not selected in the 2017 NBA Draft. As a rookie, he quickly became attached to the Grizzlies and participated in 32 games with the starting squad. During the season, Simmons made 26 appearances with the Memphis Hustle, Memphis’ NBAGL affiliate. He had been cut up and traded between G League and foreign clubs before this season. Additionally, he had played for the Cavaliers for ten days.

Over the course of his three-year NBA contract, Simmons is expected to make $120,250. There is a spot available for him on the Raptors’ 15-man roster, thus no further trades are required to make room for him.

Toronto is now on a 10-game losing streak and has a record of 23-48. The team is putting its future first as its regular season draws to an end, completely embracing a rebuild.
